For many years, NNHRA has provided a forum for HR professionals to connect with one another and to enhance their skills through professional development and education. Our members and their employers continue to benefit in numerous ways.
It is an exciting and busy time for HR professionals and NNHRA. I am thankful and appreciative to you who have participated in our monthly meetings, events and the many activities that NNHRA has sponsored throughout 2009. The next year, 2010 looks very exciting for our association. Our board and our committees have been working hard on our upcoming monthly programs and activities.
The theme for the year 2010 is:
NNHRA - Advancing and Serving Your Professional Needs
This theme will continue to enforce our efforts of providing the best services possible for our members who serve within the business community. NNHRA takes advantage and capitalizes on all the services provided by SHRM, everything from training, materials, speakers and technology. This benefit flows to our members directly.
NNHRA offers multiple opportunities throughout the year. We offer monthly meetings with speakers presenting timely information on the latest issues. Our monthly meetings include legal and legislative updates. We offer a biannual legislative conference, HRCI certification groups, access to job postings, a quarterly newsletter, workshops, and a diversity conference. We organize and participate in the Best Places to Work collaborative effort, which benefits Northern Nevada businesses by taking the pulse of their employees. We recognize our volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation event. In addition, we give back to the community through our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters. And networking opportunities are limitless.
Lastly, membership in NNHRA offers an even more extraordinary opportunity if you volunteer. We are very interested and encourage you to get involved. There are many ways for you to volunteer - whether you have one hour or many hours to volunteer, we could use you! You can volunteer your time by meeting with a student who is interested in learning more about HR, assisting with an event, writing an article for the newsletter and/or serving on a committee.
By participating, you get to share your expertise and you get to participate directly in continuing to chart the course for NNHRA. And by participating, you get to share in the expertise of your co-members. We invite you to join us and share in the extraordinary opportunities that NNHRA has to offer.
